Progress!

Well it’s been about 5 days since we started our #DitchDisposable challenge and I have to admit, I was a little skeptical but we are doing great! Now when Scott asks for some water, I make sure it’s either from our Relay Pitcher or from his EDDY bottle! As you can see he’s a pretty big fan of the Relay Pitcher!

I’m also a pretty big fan of it too! Last night we had friends over and they asked for water. I jumped for joy and got the pitcher. I started telling them about how it double filters, how easy it is to pour and that it’s spill proof, so no matter how clumsy I am, the water stays in the pitcher. Also because of the filter my water has no taste, which is a big deal for me, I don’t like funny tasting water. I find myself drinking more water and this makes me really happy! I also like the fact that since we’ve started using the Relay pitcher, there isn’t any plastic water bottles in our recycle bin! We are really making progress and I hope that after these 30 days we will stay with it and make #DitchDisposable  a lifestyle!

Look for our next update coming soon! 🙂

Day One Starts Now!

Yesterday was the big day! We received our kit! I opened it like a kid on Christmas, excited to see what was inside, and boy did we get the hook-up! Check out our kits!

I immediately grabbed the pink bottles and declared them mine, (as if I had to fight my husband for it!) and dived right in to the Relay pitcher box to start our challenge. This pitcher is very sleek! I love the look and feel, and the colors are fun too. Here’s a picture of me with the pitcher before filling it up! As you can see I was very eager to try it out!

The Relay was super easy to set-up, there was a quick start guide included and we chose to follow it. It only took us a couple minutes to get everything cleaned, assembled, and filled! I was very impressed. This is a very unique pitcher with a double filtration system, which means it removes chlorine, taste, and odors not once, but twice! I was pretty much sold from the get go, since our water is chlorinated I don’t like drinking it even though we have a home filtration system, (I’m very picky). The other thing that I love is the filter doesn’t last one month, it’s lasts 4! Yes, you’re reading that right, 4 months! The lid snaps in place and has a very tight seal, make sure you hear the click and you’re ready to fill! It fit nicely in our fridge, we have it packed to the max, but it was happy on the topshelf as you can see here:

It’s slim enough that it can fit in most refrigerator doors too. On their site you can find lots of information and interesting facts about the Relay. One fact that stood out is 1 filter = 600 Plastic Bottles, so less waste and more money saved for you! So if you’re looking for an easy way to stay hydrated or if you’re picky like me and want better tasting water, give the Relay pitcher a try! Well today we got some good news! Our package to start our 30 day challenge to ditch disposable has shipped and will arrive next week! While we are waiting for this to come, I’ve been exploring the CamelBak website thoroughly. This is a company who truly cares about their customers and the planet! They have so many products to chose from, you can go from home to outdoors and always stay hydrated. They have a guide that shows how much water you should drink based on your activity for the day, which is very helpful! I would highly suggest checking it out if you’re an active person! They even show what bottles they sell that will provide your recommended intake of water. If you’re ready to take the plunge they are offering a special!

From their Facebook page: In honor of World Water Day, spend $25 or more at CamelBak.com and you’ll receive a free water.org Groove bottle with your purchase. Plus, we’ll donate $10 to Water.org. Use this code: GOTYOURBAKFB Click HERE to go to their site!
